Cranford

Not a whole lot of laughs this week it has to be said. And it looks like we're not going to get to meet the gay son. Still Francesca looked fab at the May Day festival. And Julia did raise a smile when she declared that she hadn't "had a goose in her garden" for a few weeks. I'm hoping it all turns out happily ever after next week. Especially for the poor (not very attractive) young doctor. That's all. J x P.S. John's brother is now doing fine thank goodness. Nanny Ogg's husband has had to go into hospital though so we're all rooting for her (and him) at the moment. Lots of love to you Nanny, give me a shout if you need anything.

But such excellent advice, such as a mans true nature cannot be fully known until he is thirty....such whimsical creatures.

Hello darlings. Charlie out of hospital (after three weeks of pfaffing about) but must return on 3 January for an operation which we hope will sort out his problems.

As you know, little sis (Mrs T to everyone else) has broken her leg in three places so we don't know what's happening at the moment. Kev tells me that they are going to put a plate and pins in her leg which should be an absolute joy.

Anyway, to Cranford - yes, I absolutely love it and have just got North and South from the library. Will it live up to expectations? After all, the starry and talented cast of Cranford must have contributed greatly to this version of Mrs Gakell's books. We shall see.

But what will replace it on Sunday evenings????? Vodka martinis just don't do it for me, but perhaps a champagne cocktail or two might help ease the boredom of Christmas television.

Lots of love to your gorgeous self, the Aged Ps, Mr Figster, and Jane and Bill mwah, mwah xxx

Mrs T update. Message from Kev on my answer machine last night. Operation a success and the invalid was waiting for plaster to be applied to said broken limb and a visit from the physios before being allowed home on crutches. Will speak to him (her?) later and let you know how things are going. J x

How did this dreadful accident happen?

Nanny did you not see North and South on tv? With the brooding hero - a veritable second mr darcy anyway I think its her best book but Cranford has surprised me definitely more amusing and Miss Austen's influence is all over it.

Very sorry to hear about Charlie.

Love to all

Invalid Update. Just spoken to Kev. Mrs T in hospital again tonight. She's in plaster but needs to see the Occupational Therapist before she can be discharged. She's been moved to a nicer ward now apparently. The last one had a lot of patients with dementia which is never easy plus you get little sleep. Hopefully she'll be out tomorrow anyway. Thinking of you Sue. And everyone in work sends their regards. J x

Hey Jane - I'm tempted to attribute the accident to too much red wine but it happened at 8am and I don't think she's taken to all-day boozing yet. She slipped on a patch of ice, poor pet, and the breaks are all round the ankle, I think.

As Jonathan says, she's been moved away from the head-bangers' ward to a more genteel set of patients but she may be out today if she can cope with the crutches. Am awaiting a call from Kev to find out if she's come home and if she wants me to go up there to do some nursing.

Plus their central heating has packed up - eeeh, it's grim up north,Mr Grimsdyke.

And how is your delightful self, young Jane? Still sporting fetching footwear? And how is Bill?

Keep drinking champagne cocktails - I find it helps with almost everything!

I didn't watch North & South - is it on DVD? How could any hero top Mr Darcy?

Ah well this season I'm mostly wearing ugg boots and the guy in the times who said they were uncool yesterday has no idea what hes talking about. They are adorable you wear them with naked feet and they're incredibly sexy its like having your feet stroked while you're walking. Plus you don't slip on ice ..they should go straight to the top of Mrs T's Christmas list.

Yes you can buy the dvd £13 on amazon - there you go Charlie a christmas suggestion for nanny . And the guy was Richard Armitage playing John Thornton. Go see him on BBC.co.uk plus clips from the show. see quote below....

Richard became the object of many a woman's desire with his sizzling portrayal of John Thornton in North & South. He was voted 2004's Best Actor and Most Desirable Drama Star by visitors to the BBC Drama website. His other credits include The Impressionists and the forthcoming Robin Hood.

So enjoy
