Yes, though there are a few things to consider when getting a tattoo over a scar. First, the scar must be at least 2 years old before you get the tattoo. This will give the scar enough time to have completely healed and regenerated before attempting to cover it. Second, to hide a scar it is better to have a busy pattern covering the scar than a solid color. For example, a wing design over a scar will hide the outline of the scar by detracting the eye from the scar. However, a solid tribal piece will let the scar show through and will not accomplish the goal to hide the scar. click here to see scar cover-up Finally, a scar may not take the ink as well as normal skin. You might need to come back for another session to get a solid fill over the scar. I do not guarantee scar cover-up tattoos... any necessary touch-ups will be at the client's expense.

Can you tattoo over scars? Can you tattoo over stretch marks?

Yes, and yes. Tattooist Greg Kulz commented "scar tissue is easy...feels kinda like plastic." In the vast collection of tattoo books and magazines, there are a few photos or interviews where people speak specifically of getting work done over both scars and stretch marks. The tattooing shouldn't be done if the skin is still healing or changing following whatever caused the dermal trauma.

Since I don't get the all clear for 2 years (well, 5 years really but they'll have a good idea after 2) I can celebrate at the 2 year point with a tattoo. Now there's another competition, what to have tattooed on my chest...

Christmas quote:

Twas Christmas Eve in the mortuary
And the night was dark and drear
When up jumped a corpse who said:
"It's bloody cold in here".

In strode the mortuary-keeper
His nose all red with beer:
"Lie down, you silly old sod,
You can't do that there 'ere."

Tatto competition (by the way, what's the prize for this one?) - two suggestions "Sign on the dotted line" or (b) a footprint?

Have a lovely Christmas, dear.

Much love
