Scary Stuff

Have had my first case of suspected swine flu on the Team. Hopefully it won't have spread to the rest of the Team (will interfere with their studies) or, indeed, me (will interfere with my Festivaliscious weekend with Figola). That's all. J x

you know I can't stop peeking and can't help thinking that you're wrong that there must have been music...theres this sixties song by The Crystals ..He hit me and it felt like a kiss ..which was frowned upon because it endorsed domestic violence..surely this is where the title comes from ..doncha think? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f20Oz9Yr_So

Yes, this is where the title comes from and it forms part of the story. I don't think it was an original Crystals song though - it was written by Carole King. There is music during the film sections. I just don't remember any "incidental" music. J x

Wow am quite impressed with one investigatory powers. You're right Carole King wrote this song with Gerry Giffen for the Crystals. She wrote it because Little Eva was being beaten by her boyfriend and said that he did it because he loved her. The song was produced by Phil Spector ...how ironic as he turned out to be great mysogynist. Apparently the title of the song was the last line in 1930s film Lilliom...and according to Adam Curtis the title is a reference to the song. In this instance is it used to represent a love of American pop culture, which in turn heavily - some would say too heavily - dominates global popular culture.

So excited

Good luck... And if you remember nothing else (having blanked most of it through sheer terror) you'll remember the Carole King/Little Eva connection (which is really odd). J x
